PROTECTING CRITICAL LIGHTING FUNCTIONS WITH SELF-RESETTING FUSES FOR SEAMLESS TRUCK AND TRAILER OPERATIONS.
Safety Solutions™ Intermediate Trailer Boxes are electronic units designed to safeguard trailer rear work lamps from potential faults in the truck’s electronics. Traditionally, a truck’s electronics control the trailer’s rear lights. However, when a fault occurs on the trailer, it can blow the truck’s fuses leading to the loss of critical lighting functions like park, indicators, and brake lights. This issue arises because some OEM trucks use shared fuses for trailer connections.
To address this, many OEMs now integrate separate fuses for trailer lights. While this approach minimises disruptions to the truck’s lights, a blown fuse still disables the trailer’s rear lights until repairs are made.
The Intermediate Trailer Box provides a more robust solution by connecting directly to the truck’s battery. It intercepts signals from the truck and transmits output signals to the trailer. Equipped with self-resetting fuses, the unit offers reliable protection against improper connections. For example, if a
driver incorrectly connects a 15-pin or 7-pin Suzi Cable, resulting in an excessive current draw or a short-circuit, the Intermediate Trailer Box will automatically cut power to prevent further damage.
This innovative design ensures enhanced safety and uninterrupted operation for both truck and trailer lighting systems.
